Preheat oven to 450°F.
Pat the roast dry to help the crust form.
Season all sides generously with salt and pepper.
Mix softened butter with garlic, rosemary, thyme, and parsley.
Rub the garlic-herb butter over the entire roast.
Place roast on a rack inside a roasting pan.
Roast at 450°F for 20 minutes to develop color.
Reduce heat to 325°F and cook an additional 1–1.5 hours, or until internal temperature reaches 125°F for medium-rare.
Let rest for 20 minutes before slicing.
Spoon any melted herb butter from the pan over the slices when serving.
