Store guide
The Aldi keto shopping guide
Low-carb picks from Aldi's regular range — the aisles that reliably work, and the ones that don't.
Meat, fish, and eggs
Aldi's core meat range is where a keto shop lives: whole chickens and thighs, mince at three fat ratios, pork chops and belly, bacon, eggs by the tray, and a rotating range of fish.
Look at the "Specialbuy" chiller for the higher-fat cuts — pork belly, lamb shoulder, chicken thighs on the bone. Cheaper per kilo and better for one-pan cooking than the trimmed lean packs.
Dairy and fats
Full-fat Greek yoghurt, salted and unsalted butter, double cream, mascarpone, cream cheese, and a solid own-brand hard-cheese range (mature cheddar, red Leicester, halloumi, feta) all work at Aldi's pricing.
Skip the "low-fat" versions of any of these; they typically add starch or gum to compensate.
Vegetables that actually fit
The reliable list: leafy greens, courgettes, aubergine, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes (in moderation), avocados, cucumber, celery, radish. Frozen cauliflower rice is worth keeping in the freezer.
The pass list: potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweetcorn, peas, root vegetables, most of the ready-to-cook pouches.
Store cupboard
Olive oil (regular, not "light"), tinned tomatoes, tinned coconut milk (the tin, not the drink), stock cubes, dijon and English mustard, apple cider vinegar, and Aldi's own-brand almond and coconut flour when they carry it.
The Specialbuy world food weeks are worth watching — they often carry decent tahini, gochujang, and fish sauce at half the price of the branded equivalents.
What to leave alone
The bakery aisle, the "healthy" cereal aisle, most breakfast bars including the ones labelled protein, and the "no-added-sugar" biscuits which are almost always sweetened with maltitol at a level that will spike blood sugar for many people.
