This Easy Almond Flour Bread is a soft, sliceable loaf with a dense, golden crumb that works well for toast or sandwiches. It is made using almond flour and eggs to create a sturdy texture that holds up to various toppings without the use of traditional grains or flour.

About This Recipe

The structure of this bread relies on the combination of whisked eggs and almond flour, which helps the loaf rise during baking while keeping the interior moist. Letting the loaf cool completely before slicing is a necessary step, as it allows the crumb to set and ensures the slices remain firm. The batter should be mixed until smooth and thick, then leveled in the pan to achieve an even rise and a consistent shape across the loaf.

The flavor is mild and slightly nutty from the almond base, which pairs well with both savory and salty toppings like butter or avocado. Using a small amount of coconut flour is an optional way to adjust the texture, helping to create a tighter crumb that mimics traditional bread more closely. Because the ingredients are simple and neutral, the loaf is easy to adapt and can be seasoned with dried herbs or seeds depending on how it will be served.

This bread is a practical option for those who want a homemade loaf that stores well in the refrigerator or freezer. Slicing the bread before freezing allows for easy access when you only need one or two pieces for a quick meal. Whether served fresh from the oven or lightly toasted in a skillet, it provides a reliable and firm base for any standard sandwich or breakfast topping.

The bread didn’t rise and tastes awful. I suspect you meant 1 teaspoon (not tablespoon of baking powder) I followed the recipe despite my hesitation on the baking powder. Almond flour isn’t cheap so I’m not sure if I’ll give this another go.

    • Hi Hillary, thank you so much for catching this! You are absolutely right—there was a typo in the ingredient list. It should indeed be 1 teaspoon of baking powder, not 1 tablespoon. Using too much baking powder causes that bitter taste and makes the bread collapse instead of rising.

I have updated the recipe now to reflect the correct measurement. I’m so sorry for the wasted ingredients, and I really appreciate you pointing this out so I could fix it for everyone else!

I was wondering what the total carb is for this bread recipe. I made it for my grandfather in-law and he enjoyed it but he’s also diabetic and needs to know how many total carbs is in it

        • Thanks for asking!
This bread contains approximately 4–5g total carbohydrates per slice, including fiber, assuming the loaf is sliced into 12 pieces.
Exact values can vary slightly depending on the almond flour brand used.
